▪ Putharekulu is a sweet made of a very thin layer of rice starch that is folded and filled with sugar, dried fruits, and nuts.
▪ The name “Putharekulu” means “coated sheet” in Telugu, with “poota” meaning “coating” and “reku” (plural “rekulu”) meaning “sheet.”

- Uttarakhand achieved a remarkable milestone by obtaining Geographical Indication (GI) tags for 18 products, encompassing 12 agricultural goods, 4 handcrafted items, 1 food product, and 1 manufactured good.
- This achievement marks a historic feat: Uttarakhand became the first state in India to secure 18 GI tags in a single day.
- The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, officiated the distribution of GI certificates to these 18 products, bringing the total number of GI-tagged products in the state to 27.
